Announcing the establishment of the  i-Mode comic site, “Keitai Manga Mainichi MobaComi”

Two companies, DG Mobile (CEO: Kazusuke Obi / Location: Tokyo-to, Shibuya-ku, Tomigaya 2-43-15) and the Exing Corporation (CEO: Takahiro Tsuchiki / Location: Aichi-ken, Nagoya-shi, Mizuho-ku,Shioiri-cho 18-1) will establish a new entertainment site for NTT Docomo’s i-Mode on July 4th.

The rise of Third-Generation (3G) Mobile Phones and similar devices in number and dissemination is increasing (NTT Docomo: FOMA distribution of twelve (12) million units, thirty-percent of users having unlimited internet access /  KDDI: WIN final range of distribution of three (3) million two (2) hundred-thousand units, more than nine-percent of users having unlimited internet access /  Vodafone: 3GC  one (1) million one (1) hundred-thousand units). With the swift dissemination of third-generation terminals, the demand for Third-Generation Mobile Phone user contents has grown stronger. Electronic Books are only one of the many contents available and their number of downloads on mobile phones will soon surpass those on personal computers and PDA’s. Furthermore, young people and electronic comic sales are expected to be at the center of the market.

For some time, DG Mobile integrated technology has been a reliable provider of comics and contents aimed at Third-Generation Mobile Phones [Mobile Comic Solution (offering authoring software for the processing of manga and images into data for use with Third-Generation Mobile Phones, Private Access Applications Licensing, etc.)] has seen extensive sales. Also, Shogakukan’s cooperation with affiliated companies, chiefly the entertainment system contents production company Web Progressive (presently, Net Advance Corp.)in May 2004, and cooperation and production of digital-manga with a group of famous manga creators, The Digital Manga Association in August 2004 to gain permission from each creator and publisher to place manga as the axis for building the foundation of a burgeoning contents business aimed at Third-Generation Mobile Phones.

The Exing Corporation has had great success and seen a high volume of users with its ring-tone melody site “POKEMERO JOYSOUND”, however, with the vast improvements being made to mobile phone technology, and the expansion towards Third-Generation Mobile Phones made by the electronic-book market, the Exing Corporation is determined to enter the electronic-comics market.

Since February 3rd of 2005, when the Exing Corporation and DG Mobile began comic distribution for the EZ Web (KDDI) mobile phone site, “Keitai De Manga * Mainichi MobaComi”, new manga titles and works by well-established creators have received a great deal of popularity from service members. Right now, the line up set for distribution for i-Mode is designed to be enjoyable to a broad audience of both men and women from every walk of life. Some newly available works include Fujio Akatsuka’s “Osomatsukun”, Kimie Shiga’s “Nijiko Lullaby”, Kenichi Kotani’s “Tennis Boy”, and others running the full genre spectrum from gag-comics to sports and even love stories.
