The cellular-publications market has shown signs of drastic growth in recent years. Particularly, for young people, comics and cartoons which users can access via their cellphones, or "mobile comics," are predicted to become central to this large market. DG-M for some time, has been a specialist in comic-contents distribution for third generation (3G) cellular phones. DG-M's "Mobile Comics Solution" is its unique integration-technology infrastructure for 3G mobile-use data. The "Mobile Comics Solution" provides solutions such as coimic and image authoring software, display-applications for specific uses, and technology licencing. On one side, the rapidly growing Web Progressive Inc (Tokyo, Chiyoda-ku; CEO: Masahiro Ohga; following read:"WP"), an associate of entertainment publishers Shogakukan, will be teaming up with DG-M as of May 2005. As of August 2005, they will also team up with the Manga-Kyoukai (Manga Society) organization,
a group of manga authors who are striving for fame while working in digital formats, to create and build the foundations for a new 3G cellular phone oriented-contents business. On the other side of the collaboration is Xing Inc, proprietor of the hightest ranked ring tone site, "Pokemero Joysound," who is the first large-scale provider of entertainment contents for cellular phones. As 3G phone functionality is progressing and more people are switching to 3G, the electronic publications market from now is expected to expand, and DG-M will be there to participate in the mobile comics market.
"Keitai de Manga * Mainichi Mobile Comics" will first be targeted at EZweb(KDDI) networks, but plans are already in place to expand the site to other carriers.
